Thomas "Tom" William McCarter

McCarter, Thomas “Tom” 80 of Seymour, TN went to his Heavenly Home Monday, June 26, 2017. He was longtime member of Grace Baptist Church where he previously served as music minister. Tom retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after 32 years of faithful service. He was a proud US Army Veteran. Tom’s joy came from his family, friends and music. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Nellie McCarter; sister, Evelyn Smelcer; daughter, Rhonda Buchanan; granddaughter, Rachel Buchanan. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth McCarter; daughter, Dianne (Don) Reed; grandchildren, Melissa (Dustin) Jordan, Scott (Samantha) Reed, Jonathan (Brandy) Buchanan; great grandchildren, Noah, Zoey & Chloe Buchanan, Lyla Jordan, Emmalee Reed; brothers, Gene McCarter, Don McCarter, Carroll (Mary) McCarter; sister, Virginia (Danny) Futrell; host of nieces, nephews, additional family and friends. Special thanks to Covenant Hospice and Tom’s nurse, Jessie. Family will receive friends Thursday, June 29th from 5-7pm at Berry Highland South on Simpson Road with funeral service directly following at 7pm. Rev. Cotton Kelly officiating. Burial will take place Friday, June 30th at 11am at Berry Highland South with family and friends meeting at the graveside.
