Trula Marie Lawson, lovingly referred to as Momma, Nannie, and Bootsie was born on January 31, 1932 to the late Wheeler James and Elsie Annie Longmire in Anderson County, Tennessee. Trula grew up in South Knoxville, specifically the Island Home and Meads Quarry areas. As a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, Trula was a devoted Christian who lived each day for the Lord. She began her long working career at a young age employed at a downtown Knoxville five and dime store. Trula then went on to work at two very prominent restaurants in Knoxville for several years. She spent 37 years as a server at Regas Restaurant where her coworkers and regulars became lifelong devoted friends. After her retirement from Regas, Trula worked for several years at Ye Olde Steakhouse.
Trula is survived by daughter, Janice Fennell; son, Steve Hobby; grandson, Richie Fennell (Christine); granddaughter, Ashley Howdeshell; great-grandsons: Jack, Eli, Max, and Bennett; sister-in-law, Judy Longmire, and many loved extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Luther “Tom” Lawson in 1992; sister, Edith Robinson and brothers: Glen, Pete, and Jack Longmire.
Because of her charismatic and charming nature, Trula never met a stranger. She was immensely proud of her family who she loved deeply and unconditionally. Only fond memories are left behind.
Family and friends are invited to attend the burial service on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating.
