Von proudly served his country as a member of the US Army and gained a National Defense Service Medal for serving during the Vietnam War, as well as being recognized as an Expert Rifleman. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Speech, as well as working as a Med Lab Tech both in and out of the military. Von also worked for many years as a contractor.
He is survived by his son, Von Milton Tyler Jr., and his daughter, Blanca Tyler (Don) Davis, as well as his two brothers, Van (Sue) Tyler and Vic Tyler, and his niece and nephew, Samantha Tyler and Shawn Tyler.
Von will be interred at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway, located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to St. Jude's in honor of Von's memory.
