Wade Donald Shields

Wade D. Shields, age 85, of Maryville, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Morning View Village. He attended Tuckaleechee Chapel. Wade was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor, Inc. in Joliet, Illinois as a machinist with 31 years of service. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and granddaughter, Alyssa. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann Stanley Shields; daughter Valerie Shields and husband Jack Covington; Nick Shields and wife Sharon and children, Nikolai and Noah; Terry Shields and wife Kim and son, Jacob; Bryan Shields and wife Terri and children Tyler, Kyle, and Cailyn; ex-daughter-in-law Julie Rhoden and children Brandon and Kasey; great-grandchildren Ava, Hudson, and Illa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sherman and Marie Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm for graveside services, Pastor John Lowe officiating.
