
EASTERDAY, WALTER LEE – age 83 of Knoxville passed away November 5, 2013 at Hospice of Palm Beach Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. Walter graduated from Phoenix High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy from September 1948 until August of 1952. He was a machinist supervisor at the Y-12 plant of Martin Marietta Energy Systems in Oak Ridge for 33 years. Walter was a member of Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church and Beaver Ridge Lodge #366 and National Association of Atomic Veterans. His favorite things to do were carpentry and landscaping. Preceded in death by parents, Necy and Carl Easterday; daughter, Debra Easterday; brother, Carl Easterday, Jr.; sister, Eva Gliesman. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dollie Easterday; daughters, Brenda (Travis) Rogers of Carrollton, GA., Joy (Randall) Keyser of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., Tammy (Curtis) O’Rourke of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie Rogers, Blakely and Kenly Keyser, Megan and Ryan O’Rourke. Family will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Sunday, November 10th from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm with chapel service to follow at 2:00 pm. Following service family and friends will proceed to Oak Ridge Memorial Park for interment. Travis Rogers, Randall Keyser, Curtis O’Rourke, Michael Easterday, Gary Easterday and Michael Dees will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church-Family Life Center, 7739 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4.
