William J. Dahl, age 80 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. Bill was of the Catholic Faith and a Vietnam veteran. He entered the Navy in 1960 and discharged in 1967. He studied to be a linguist, speaking Chinese and Thai and served on the USS Oxford where he decoded messages. After getting out of the service he decided to learn to teach ballroom dancing. He taught for Authur Murray Dance Studio in Daytona Beach, FL. This is where he met his wife, Becky, she taught dancing there as well. They moved to Knoxville in 1979 and Bill started working in the car business. Most of his career was with Rice Oldsmobile. He was the dispatcher in the service department and retired from there in 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Kathleen Dahl and several sisters- in-law and brothers-in-law. Survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Rebecca (Becky) Dahl; daughter, Teresa Dahl Bradley; son, Jason Dahl; grandchildren, Bella Bradley, Larkin Bradley and Pressley Dahl; sister, Nancy Cobb; sisters-in-law, Julia Hartman (Mike) and Sharon Mitchell (Ted); many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the nurses and aids on the B and C wings at Ben Atchley for taking such good care of him. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Sunday at Weaver Funeral Home.
