

Alvin Allen (Aloysius) Wallace, 83, Tipton, passed away on February 12, 2012, at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born March 31, 1928, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Guy L. and Fanny J. (Simon) Wallace. On May 28, 1949, he married Eleanor M. Wallace, and she survives.
He graduated from Wilson High School in 1945 and served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. He worked for Western Union Telegraph, Nickle Plate Railroad and Norfolk and Southern Railroad, and from 1963 to 1964 at the Tipton Golf Course. He was a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. #1012 Elks and was Exalted Ruler from 1957 to 1958 and Elk of the Year from 1970 to 1971. He was also a member of American Legion #46. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was chief cook and cookie baker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Saundra (John) Lewellen, Dublin, Indiana, Deborah (Ken) Ehman, Tipton, and Mark (Beth) Wallace, Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren, Ryon (Cookie) Lewellen, Tressani (Corey) Gilbert, Tiffani (Dustin) Thornburg, Destani Van Winkle, Aleah (Ryan) Long, Briana (Kevin) McDonough, Tyler Wallace, and Timothy Wallace; great-grandchildren, Dakota Lewellen, Levi Muckridge, Kinsey Fultz, Peighton and Gabrielle Gilbert, Jarrett, Trevor and Clark Thornburg, Haley and Aris Van Winkle, Emma and Evan Long, and Ian and Avery Kate McDonough; sisters, Kathryn Johnson, Renton, Washington, Esther (Jim) Nelson, Alamo, Texas, and Joy (Joe) Curry, Bonney Lake, Washington; brother, Bill (Ruthy) Wallace, Berthoud, Colorado; many special nieces and nephews; devoted niece, Karen (Doug) Abbotts, Lexington Park, Maryland; and additional family members, the Russel families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard M. Wallace; one brother, Guy W. Bud Wallace; and two sisters, Ruth Coombs, and Elizabeth Tschaikowsky.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, with Pastors Doug Slack and Keith Moreen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
