

Barbara Lee Burge, 73, Kokomo, Indiana passed away on January 6, 2022. She was born on July 5, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, MO the daughter of Buddy J., Sr. and M. Josephine Richardson (Shy). She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur S. Burge.
Barbara retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 26 years of service. She was one of the first female city letter carriers in Kokomo, and her last post was Postmaster of Logansport, IN. She was a member of the Women of Moose, Eagles Auxillary, United Postmasters and Managers of America, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Barbara was a Field Service Rep for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 28 years.
She was an avid crafter and held an annual show at her home with her sisters Dixie and Peggy. Barbara wintered in Ft. Myers, FL and served on the Board of Directors at Cypress Woods RV Resort. She also ran a restaurant called the Gathering Place at the resort. She implemented the mail sorting system and ran it herself for several years at the resort. Barbara served on the Rapid Response Team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Barbara loved to camp and served as the campground host at Tippecanoe River State Park.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Malissa (Scott) Maggard of Kokomo, IN; granddaughter, Allison Morgan of Kokomo, IN; sisters, Dixie (Michael) Gibson of Kokomo, IN, Charlene Richardson of Athens, TN; brothers, Buddy John, Jr. (Peggy) Richardson, Rodney (Kathy) Richardson, Patrick Richardson, Douglas Richardson, and Robert (Sandy) Richardson all of Kokomo, IN and many nieces, nephews, cousins by the dozens and a special friend Nick Allred of East Prairie, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Linda Richardson Wade.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2022 and from 12:00 noon - 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, IN. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
