On February 4, 2026, Bonnie Mae (Jessee) Flintoff passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Legacy at Waterford Place, Kokomo, Indiana. She was 86 years old. Born August 2, 1939, in Dizney, Kentucky, to the late Willie Ray and Almiria (Fields) Jessee.
Bonnie grew-up in the South, and really was the daughter of a coal miner and farmer. In her early years she spent her childhood in the coal mining camps and hollers. As an avid gardener, Bonnie found solace and delight in planting flowers to create a haven of beauty and tranquility in her own yard, yellow roses were her favorite. Swinging on the porch with her grandbabies brought her great joy. She loved shopping for her family and creating what everyone fondly called ‘Grandma Bonnie bags’. We never could figure out how she could get so many items in a gift bag. She made the best potato salad and ‘angel’ eggs. She also enjoyed sewing, creative decorating, collecting angels and Elvis memorabilia.
Bonnie’s greatest joys came from raising her family, they were the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her 3 children, daughters Cheryl (Don) Stafford, Sandra (late Troy) Jeffries and son Matthew (Carla) Flintoff; 7 grandchildren Casie (Jason) Braden, Nicholas (Jennifer) Jeffries, Jennifer (Caleb) Abbott, Cory (Lindsey) Stafford, Tiffany (Cody) Leer, Korbon Shelton and Carlie Flintoff; 12 great-grandchildren Makayla Braden, Aubree Braden, Blake Abbott, Lucas Stafford, Brayden Abbott, Austin Braden, Brylee Abbott, Lee Abbott, Maddox Whisman, Samantha Love, Asher Leer, and Lincoln Stafford. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Almiria Jessee, one sister Edith Scraper; four brothers James Jessee, Carl Jessee, Floyd Jessee and Dennis Jessee; and son-in-law Troy Jeffries.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Legacy at Waterford Place and Compassus Hospice Care for all their loving care, kindness and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Dementia Alzheimer’s Association. The family will share plans for a Celebration of Life ceremony at a future date.
