

Carl E McElfresh, age 80, of Kokomo, IN passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Carl was born April 18, 1941, the son of the late Mark E and Mary (Cottingham) McElfresh. He was a Kokomo High School graduate, class of 1959. Carl served honorably in the US Army from 1960 to 1967. He started his career at Delco Electronics in 1961, retiring in 1996 as a Senior Engineering Technician.
Carl was married for ten wonderful years to Edith McElfresh until she passed in 2000.
Carl was a member of the Eagles Lodge 255 for 38 years, and a lifetime member of the VFW, donating countless hours decorating for numerous annual events. He was also actively involved in planning his High School Reunions. Carl enjoyed 47 summers at Lakewood on Lake Shafer, where he was known as "The Mayor". His hobbies included bowling, horse shoes, pool, and rooting for his beloved Packers. Most of all, Carl loved spending time with his family and friends.
Carl never made a mistake. And when he did, his kids would write it on the calendar! If you needed a tool, he had it. If you needed help, he was there.
Carl was a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man of great principle with the kindest of hearts.
He is preceded in death by his faithful wife; his parents; his brothers, Wayne and Leland McElfresh; son-in-law, Mark "Ziggy" Smith; and his loving companion, Christine Ehman.
Carl is survived by his three children, Renee Smith, Andy McElfresh (Kimberly), and Karen Terrell (Chris); 8 grandchildren, Britani, Sara, Tyler, Ryan, Julia, Josh, Faith, and Ava; and 6 great grandchildren.
Services for Carl will be at 1pm on Monday, November 8 at Ellers Mortuary Webster St Chapel. Pastor Scott Pattison will officiate. Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation starting at 11am.
Carl will be laid to rest next to his wife, Edie, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
