Jeff graduated from Western High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea. He served 35 years in the Baltimore County Police department, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Jeff was an avid reader and golfer. He was a Mason and a member of the VFW.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jeffery "Bryan" and his wife Mandy Shanks, and grandchildren, Connor Patrick, Sophie Elizabeth and Gabriel Michael Shanks; sisters, Charla Michner, Mary Theresa "Terri" and her husband Rick Gollhofer and Catherine Anne "Casey" Sparks as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and longtime friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers John Michael, Patrick Paul, and Joseph Ernest Shanks, as well his beloved niece, Laura LaRayne Shanks.
Visitation for Charles will take place Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior Street, Kokomo, IN 46901 followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.
