

She was baptized Catholic. She came to Kokomo with her family in 1958 and attended St. Patrick's Elementary School. She was a 1970 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Tipton, Indiana.
In her youth she sang with the Kokomo Symphony Choir and was a published Author of childrens prose and poetry.
With the caring and gentle tutelage of the Sisters of St. Joseph she graduated with the secretarial skills that enabled her to serve the City of Kokomo for 41 years beginning at the Community Day Care Center, The City Controllers Office and the Clerical Division of The Kokomo Police Dept.
Charlyn was a member of St. Patrick Church and a supporting family member of EWTN, virtually attending daily Mass and the Holy Rosary.
Survivors include her mother, Christine Ying-House, Sisters Drucilla Ying and Denise Anne Ying-Gray of Kokomo, Grace Ying of St. Louis, MO, brothers Darral Ying of Pembroke Pines, FL, Stephen Ying (Marvella) of Arlington, TX and Hilary Ying of Indianapolis, IN. As well as the three children of her heart Milan "Teicher", Naomi and Zara Kendall of Kokomo. Her Uncle Oscar Wright of Oakland, CA and Aunts Helen LaCombe of Chicago, Elizabeth A. Ying of New York and Bonita Ying-Johnson (Charles) of Indianapolis, as well as all of her Graham cousins.
Charlyn was preceded in death by her father Darral Ying Sr., six uncles and three aunts, three nieces and one nephew and dear friends Jim and Linda Kendall. Proud and loving Aunt of five nieces, six nephews, six great nieces and five great nephews. She was the beloved of her parents and her siblings. We will ever miss her. May she rest in peace.
A public visitation for Charlyn will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A burial will occur Monday, August 19, 2024 at 3:45 PM at Albright Cemetery, Kokomo, Indiana.
