

Cynthia “Carol” Shelby, 78, Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. She was born April 30, 1935, in Kokomo, to Charles and Lola Franklin. On November 15, 1952, she married Clifford Leon Shelby, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2006.
Cynthia worked at Village Pantry for twenty-four years. She loved to play bingo and play with her grandkids. She also enjoyed going to Goodwill and Walmart and doing word searches.
She is survived by her son, Edward A. (Lori) Shelby; grandkids, Isaac, Maria, and Andy Shelby; great-grandkids, Tyler, Dylan, and Devon Shelby; son-in-law, Jerry Gilbert; daughter-in-law, Coleen Shelby; half-brother, Paul Blye; half-sister, Priscilla Bowes; sisters-in-law, Linda Strange and Janie Spice; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Charles Franklin; mother, Lola (Franklin) Blye; son, Clifford Shelby Jr.; daughter, Shirley Gilbert; and grandsons, Jeremy Shelby and Curtis Johnson.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
