Nécrologie de Darlene Kay Buffin
Darlene Kay Buffin went home to be with her Lord Sept. 5, 2022, with family by her side. Darlene was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Katherine and Lawrence Wilburn Cross. Darlene is survived by Ira Thomas Buffin, a wonderful husband; they loved each other deeply and shared many adventures. In her 76 years of life, Darlene showered her family and friends with laughter and a love that was felt beyond the moment shared. Darlene celebrated her friends' and family's accomplishments with heartfelt enthusiasm, and was always quick with a smile or comfort to those she loved. Darlene was an indelible support system in and of herself, loving her family and friends fiercely and unapologetically. Prior to retirement, Darlene worked at Priced Right boutique store, owned and operated the Richmond Bargain Center and worked at Hoppe Jewelers, all while raising her family. Darlene spent her retirement years enjoying life with her husband, friends, family and her dogs. Darlene was fulfilled by her role as a greeter at In His Image Church, coffee chats with her neighborhood friends, square dancing, ballroom dancing, singing in church and being around horses. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert (Sandy) Cross, Larry Cross; her son, William Thomas Buffin; her niece, Kathy (Todd) Smith. Our beloved Darlene is survived by her husband; her children, Richard (Deb) Jackson, Stacy (Bob) Morris, Jack (Kay) Buffin, Myra Schloemer, Sharon (Sidney) Mitchell; her sister Page Cross; her daughter-in-law Michelle Eichstead; her grandchildren, Zachary Jackson, Dillon Jackson, Jonathan Richardson, Jordan Richardson, Jason (Mary) Buffin, Michelle (Jonathan) Kobb, Blake (Lauren) Buffin, Jessica (Shawn) Lemaster, Aryn Schloemer (Alexander Caillat), Brandon Schloemer (Jessica Martin), Lauren (Adam) Wilson, Sebastian (Carol) Mitchell, Sam Mitchell; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 to 12 p.m. on Oct. 3 at In His Image Church at 2940 E. 50 North, Kokomo. The memorial will be officiated by Pastor Swain at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to In His Image church.
