Darral Ying

He was born May 16, 1932 in Greenville, Mississippi to B.T. LeHan Ying and Drucilla (Graham) Ying. He was also helped raised by his stepmother, Mary Ying. He was baptized Catholic and previously attended St. Patrick Church.

On August 19, 1951, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, at Immaculate Conception Church, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Christine Marian Wright. To their union were born seven children: four daughters and three sons.

He attended Coahoma County Schools in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and was a graduate of Coahoma County Junior College. He retired from Delco Electronics after thirty years of service.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jo Chee & Molly Ying, and William & Isabella Graham; his parents; step-parents; a sister, Leott Ying-Hyde; four grandchildren; and one niece, Kimberly Ying.

Mr. Ying is survived by his daughters: Charlyn Ying and Drucilla Ying, both of Kokomo; Grace C. Ying, of St. Louis, Missouri; and Denise Anne Ying-Gray, of Las Vegas, Nevada; sons: Darral P. Ying Jr, of Miami, Florida; Stephen A. Ying (Marvella), of Arlington, Texas; and his youngest son, with whom he made his home, Hilary C. Ying, of Indianapolis; grandsons: Darral P. Ying III (Judy), of Rockford, Illinois; Stephen Joseph Ying, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Jonathon Ray Ying, of Indianapolis; Gregory Charles Gray, Terence McKinley Gray, and Marcos James Gray, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughters: Jennifer Ying-Burgoyne, Taylor French-Ying, and Marvella Ying-Clayburne (Vaun); four great grandsons; three great-granddaughters; his sisters: Elizabeth Anne Ying-Mystal, of New York; and Bonita M. Ying-Johnson (Charles), of Indianapolis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Ying will be forever honored and missed by his former wife and mother of his children, Christine Ying-House.

A public visitation for Darral will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Darral will be laid to rest in Crown Point Cemetery.
