David Lee McKoon, age 74, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family. David was born June 6, 1947 in Kokomo to the late C. Durfee and Emma Jane (Troyer) McKoon. He married Deborah (Ward) on Feb. 22, 1969 in Kokomo and she survives. After David graduated from Kokomo High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. After he served in the military, he worked for American Standard Pottery for five years and then went on to work at Chrysler where he retired after 30 years of employment. David was a member of the UAW #685 and American Legion Post #6. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their baseball and soccer games. David also enjoyed swimming and playing basketball with his children and grandchildren. He loved playing golf at the American Legion, lifting weights, playing softball, music, social time with friends at The Handle Bar, and spending time with his cat, Kit. David loved family gatherings and cook outs. David was always there for his family. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Deborah; daughter, Angela (Brian Pavey) Ford; son, J. Brian McKoon; adopted children, Andrew McKoon, Alexsi McKoon, and Alex McKoon; grandchildren, Krystyl (Nick) Coffman, Lindsay Smith, Heather Smith, Wylen Ford; great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Alyvia Coffman; sisters, Nancy (Jim) Guthrie and Carlene Nearon; brothers, Carl McKoon and Max McKoon; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister. There will be a time of visitation for David on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dale Fouch officiating. Burial will follow to Albright Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Unites States Army and the VFW Post #1152 Military Rites team.
