Douglas Lee Martin, age 75, passed away on November 11, 2018 in Kokomo, while surrounded by his loving family. Douglas was born on November 1, 1943 in Melrose, Arkansas to the late Alva and Doris (Tuttle) Martin.
Douglas graduated from high school in Arkansas, and then was married to the love of his life, Faye (Cox) on January 18, 1963. Faye preceded Douglas in passing on April 13, 2005. Douglas worked at the Chrysler plant in Kokomo for 37 years, retiring in 2003.
Douglas was always working to provide for his wife and five children. When he was at home, he enjoyed watching television, particularly westerns, classic TV shows, and wrestling. Although he did not regularly attend Church services, he enjoyed watching Christian television programs as well. He was also an avid fan on the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball.
Douglas is survived by his children, Donna “Deede” (Joe) Ross, Douglas D. Martin, Geri (Ken) Barnes, LeAnn (Ron) Barnes, and April “Dani” (Larry) Hattabaugh; siblings, Nola Pyle, Vada Thompson, Lonnie Martin, and Lola Solida; grandchildren, Mackenzie Barnes, Kylee Barnes, Larry “Richie” Hattabaugh Jr., Myles Hattabaugh, Casey Alexander, Nicholas Martin, Douglas Martin, Tyler Barnes, Jake Barnes, Logan Barnes, and Joey Burton; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Douglas was preceded in death by his siblings, Ava Mawhinney, Alma Hall, Clay Martin, Ally Ivy, Atha Grooms, and Alton Martin.
There will be a visitation for Douglas held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 14th from 11:00 to 1:00, with a funeral service immediately following.
