Edith S. Shufflebotham Price

April 25, 1918-June 7, 2011

Edith (Shufflebotham) Price, 93, passed away at the Sterling House, 3025 Sycamore St., on June 7, 2011. She was born on April 25, 1918, in Kokomo, the daughter of Thomas and Mabel (Boon) Shufflebotham. On February 27, 1938, she married Loyal L. Price, the beginning of a happy and loving marriage of nearly 67 years.

Edith attended and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1936. She was employed 30 years with Delco Electronics (GM) and retired in 1980. She’s been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1944.

Edith enjoyed wintering with Loyal for 22 years in southern Texas, a retirement dream of theirs. While in Texas, she became an avid hobbyist, including: Mexican cooking, making afghans, sewing and other various crafts. She loved to read books, especially books about the Civil War era. Her biggest enjoyments were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, David and wife Marcheta Price, and Tom and wife Jenell Price, both of Kokomo; three grandchildren, April (Price) and husband Jared Owens, of Westfield, Stacey (Price) Oury, of Kokomo, and Brad and wife Michelle Price, of Kokomo; five great-grandchildren, Addison Owens, of Westfield, Madalynn Oury, of Kokomo, and Taylor, Morgan, and Korey Price, of Kokomo; one brother, Oliver Shufflebotham, of Kokomo; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal Price; two brothers, Frank and Tom Shufflebotham; and six sisters, Marjorie Dwiggans, Mable Crawford, Vera Adair, Florence Stedry, Gladys Albright, and Ruth Wright.

The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice and Sterling House for the care they gave Edith.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
