

Eugene C. Ellis, 83, Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born May 31, 1931, in Gas City, to Gerald E. and Mary K. Ellis. On March 29, 1950, he married Colleen (Block) Ellis, and she survives.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he worked at the Canteen Company, Continental Steel, and Delco, retiring in 1996 after 24 years of service there. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where he was known as the gum man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Peter (Cindy) Ellis; one daughter, Lois “Punky Lee” Welsh; 13 grandchildren, Robert Maw, Michelle King, Russell Troyer, Josh Hurlock, Robin Ellis, Koffee Jackson, Chris Ellis, Robert Beasley Jr., Rodney Beasley, GW Welsh, Nick Ellis, Kevin Ellis, and Wendy Ellis; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale (Barbara) Ellis, Max (Carolyn) Ellis, and Dan (Christi) Ellis; and two sisters, Barbara (Jim) McCombs, and Dvona (Jerry) Forest.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Louis Ellis, Linda Ellis, and Mary Colleen Ellis; and one sister, Myra Snodgrass.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. Janet Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
