Ferdinand Funtanilla Gavina

Ferdinand "Ferd" Funtanilla Gavina, 53, passed away on April 15th, 2018. He was born in Davao, Mindanao, Philippines on December 4th, 1964 to Ernesto and Delia Gavina. Ferd married Barbara Suzanne (Hutton) Gavina on July 21st, 1990 and she survives him. Ferd recently worked as a correctional officer at Miami County Correctional Facility. Ferd also served as a minister for 25 years, after graduating from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ferd enjoyed watching WWE and the Yankees. The Yankees only won when he was watching. He was talented at bowling. He had a big heart for working in youth ministry. Ferd loved to use puppets in his ministry. Ferd will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ferd hopes they'll remember, "It's not goodbye, it's see you later." Ferd is survived by his wife, Barbara Suzanne Gavina; children Joshua Ferdinand Gavina, Rachel Rose Gavina, Aaron Rodrigo Gavina, and Caleb Elijah Gavina; his mother, Delia Funtanilla Gavina; brothers John Gavina, Richard Gavina, and James Gavina, dogs Rocky and Rufus. Ferd is preceded in passing by his father, Ernesto Almonia Gavina. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 19th at Chapel Hill Christian Church, 2600 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20th at 1:00 PM, also at the church. Steve Allen will officiate.
