

Floyd Lester Powell, 94, of Kokomo passed away 12:27 PM Monday June 17, 2019 at his residence. Born January 18, 1925 in Evening Shade, Arkansas, he was the son of the late JW Powell and Alma (Duncan) Powell. On October 4, 1947 in Batesville, Arkansas, he married Lillian Pauline (Thompson), and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was employed as a pipefitter at Delco Electronics, retiring after 29 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening; and was a member of U.A.W. Local #292 and Morning Star Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 71 years, Polly Powell of Kokomo; one son Ron (Janice) Powell of Gilbertsville, KY; one granddaughter Tracy Floyd of Cicero; one great grandson Jared Floyd; one nephew Tim Mann of Sweetser; three nieces Vicky Mann of Marion, Belinda Canten of Marion, and Tammy Johnson of O'Fallon, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Ricky Powell and Dennis Powell; three brothers Nelson, Jim T., and Garland Powell; two sisters Sylvia Graddy and Gladys Powell.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Greg Reed will officiate. Burial with Military Rites by the US Army and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Kokomo. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Morning Star Church with envelopes available at the mortuary.
