Frances Lorayne Maher, 100, of Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 26, 2021 at home. She was born to Ben Hoy and Ruth (Weagley) Hoy on November 2, 1920 in Kansas City, MO. She married John E. Maher on May 11, 1946 in Kansas City. They were happily married for 65 years before his passing on February 4, 2011. Frances graduated from North Kansas City High School with the class of 1942. Throughout her life, she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Howard Home Economics club, Rosary club, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was involved with her kids' schools PTA. Most of all, Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved having her family close, cooking, and canning, and gardening with the kids. Frances was the true meaning of a farmer's wife. She cared and nurtured the farm animals' babies, the guys working in the fields, and made sure everyone was fed. Surviving her are sons; John E. Maher II and Thomas Maher (Bridget), daughters; Michelle Hinesley (Larry) and Julie Smock (Brian), grandchildren; Coley Hinesley, Reid Hinesley (Ashley), Whitney Hinesley (Lori) and Gatlin Hinesley (Bailey), Tracy Bohler (Pete), Lisa Wheeler (Jake), Ashleigh Kaylor (Kenny), Matt Maher (Bridget), Andy Maher, Mendi Higgs (Don), and Eric Guge, step grandchildren; Chris Adams and Tim Shoemaker (Jill), several great grandchildren and lots of very special nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband John; all of her siblings; son Tim Maher, and grandson Michael Maher. Visiting hours for Frances will be held at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel on Sunday May 2, 2021 from 4pm to 6pm with the Rosary prayer beginning at 5:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 1pm. with Father Sam Futral officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown. If you wish to donate in memory of Frances, please do so towards St. Jude Children Hospital and/or St. Patrick's Church.
