Harold E. Lees, 91, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011, at his home. He was born July 16, 1919, in Peru, to Arthur and Marie (Bullick) Lees. On February 10, 1955, he married Orgie ‘Margie’ Strop, and she survives.
In 1936, he was the state champion in pole vaulting. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was wounded in the Battle of Saipan while serving his country. He later worked at Med-O-Bloom as a wholesale driver for 44 years before retiring in 1981.
In addition to his wife, Orgie ‘Margie’ Lees, he is survived by one son, John (Karen) Osborne, Naples, Florida; one daughter, Marcia (Ken) Guge, Kokomo; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tammy Wooley Stetz, and a sister, Naomi Welch.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with Pastor Ray Carr officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice.
