James "Jim" Conner Ailor, 80, went Home to be with the Lord on March 22nd, 2019. Jim was born to James and Alice Ailor on March 7th, 1939 in Luttrell, Tennessee. Jim attended Kokomo High School, then went on to serve our country in the United States Navy at sea for 4 years, from 1958 to 1962, then continued Inactive Reserve from 1962 to 1964. After, Jim retired from Haynes International after 32 years of service. Jim married Gloria Cottingham on March 15th, 1991, and she survives. Jim could do anything. He enjoyed woodworking, making guns and knives. He built the house that he and Gloria lived in. He built a 1934 Ford- and he could fix and build anything. Jim was a member of the Rusty Nuts Car Club, and helped build the We Care car- The Fat Forty. Jim was always helping others and was there for everyone when they called. He was very disciplined and hardworking. Jim was a good father and husband. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Jim leaves behind his wife, Gloria Ailor; children James Ailor, Amy Reed, Kelly Carpenter, and Erin (Ray)Smith; step-children Lisa (Brad) Moore, Lanell (Ken) Thomas and Randy (Amy) York; siblings Clayton Ailor, Robert (Geneva) Ailor, Ruby Onkes, and Ernest (Hilda) Ailor; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim is preceded in passing by his parents; sister-in-law Vickie Ailor and brother-in-law Richard Onkes. Friends and family may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 28th, at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A funeral service will be held the following day with military honors, Friday March 29th at 11:00 AM also at the mortuary, officiated by Pastor Charlie Riley. Memorial contributions can be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart and Lung Association.
