

James L. Davis, 89, Kokomo, went to be with our Lord and Savior and his beloved wife “Skeet” on Monday, January 09, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born January 23, 1922, in Bluffton, the son of Roy and Cleo Davis. On June 21, 1941, he married Iva Verneda Wisehart in Kokomo.
He served in the United States Army, attended Brookside Free Methodist Church, and retired from Continental Steel in Kokomo. After retiring, he was a winter Texan. He loved to play golf and loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, James E. (Yvonne) Davis; a daughter, Patti (Jim) White of Illinois; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Brent (Dawn), and Brady (Erica); great-grandchildren, Michael, Allycia, Kyle, Mikayla, Brittany, Gavin, Maddy, Kendall, and another great-grandchild expected this month; and sisters, Madge Lamberson, Mildred Armstrong, Irene Schafer, Helen Louks, and Norman Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, “Skeet”; his brother, Harold; and his sister, Esther.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Benham officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
