James A. "Chic" Whitson

He graduated from Mishawaka High School and went on to work for Delco Electronics, retiring in 1999. He also worked for the Cossell and Country Raisin nurseries. He was a member of UAW Local 292 and attended Bethel Tabernacle Church of God.

He is survived by one son, Duane (Barbara) Whitson, Amboy; one daughter, Debra (David) Horoho, Greentown; step-children, Stacey and Corey Monroe; nine grandchildren, Christopher Horoho, Derek Horoho, Justin Whitson, Timothy Whitson, Jesse Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Jarryd Monroe, Jaycee Corbat, and Lilly Camden; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey Horoho, Zoe Horoho, Destiny Horoho, Tyler Horoho, Gabrielle Whitson, Abigail Whitson, and Aiden Whitson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Mary Imogene (Gene) Whitson; two brothers, Robert Pete Whitson, and Ronald Joe Whitson; and one grandchild, Jeffrey Horoho.

The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. David B. Cornelius officiating. Visiting hours will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association.
