

Jay D. Weir, 73 of Kokomo passed away on May 18, 2015 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born in Indianapolis on May 15, 1942 the son of the late Lawrence W. and Mary L. (Reynolds) Weir. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1959. Jay D. was a loved police officer in Kokomo for 32 years and retired in 1999. He was always a fair, kind, and caring police officer who loved his job and loved helping people. Jay D. always had great pride in his appearance and his physical fitness. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 78 in Kokomo. Recently Jay D. was employed as a security guard for Financial Builders Credit Union and will be sadly missed by his co-workers there. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. His great grandchildren call him “DP” which stands for double papaw. Jay D. was the strength, wisdom and support of his family and will be greatly missed.
Jay D. is survived by his children; James D (Kim) Weir of Kokomo, Robert S. Weir of Kokomo, Joanna Johnson of Kokomo; sister, Becky (Mike) Ward of Kokomo; grandchildren, Matt Weir, Ashlea Youker, Amber McQueary, Jessica Weir, Natalie Markham, Sydney Markham, and Alec Weir; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Vickey Weir of Kokomo; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jay D was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Larry Weir.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with Pastor Brad Swain officiating.
