
Katherine Pauline Horton passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. She was born December 28, 1919, in Sellersburg, to Ovel and Kathleen Kuntz. She married Paul T. Horton on September 22, 1940. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before he passed away in February of 1995.
She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1937. She then worked at Gerhart’s Drugstore, where she met Paul, the love of her life. She worked at Bell Telephone for many years as a telephone operator, as well as several clothing stores, eventually working at Montgomery Ward as a bookkeeper. She retired from there in 1980. She loved helping others and working with children. She volunteered at St. Patrick School and at St. Joseph Hospital during her retirement. She went back to work at the Kokomo Public Library in the Children’s Department until she was 84. She enjoyed playing Bingo, reading, and taking care of her family. She was well loved, cared for, and respected by family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Melodie) Horton of Michigan City; daughter, Kathy Horton of Kokomo; two granddaughters, Erin Horton of Ft. Wayne, and Megan Horton of Washington, Indiana; one sister, Patricia Winner of Winchester; and several nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary Kaser, and one brother, Carl Kuntz.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
