Kimberly Sue Henderson, born on March 4, 1960, passed away on March 20, 2026, leaving behind a quiet but meaningful imprint on the hearts of those who loved her. Kimberly's gentle spirit and the simple things she loved made her truly special.
Kimberly found happiness in everyday moments. She loved listening to Johnny Cash and singing along to her favorite songs, spending time coloring page after page with care, and writing her thoughts, notes, and doodles in her notebook. Wherever she went, there was almost always a Diet Coke nearby - one of her favorite comforts that never failed to make her smile.
Kimberly proudly participated in the Special Olympics, where she enjoyed being active, spending time with others, and sharing in the joy of competition and friendship. She also worked for many years at Bona Vista, where she spent time with friends and coworkers who became an important part of her life.
Kimberly enjoyed living at the group home, where she made many friends and stayed busy with activities she loved. She looked forward to dances, cookouts, and gatherings, and she enjoyed being surrounded by people who cared about her. The friendships she made there brought her happiness and a strong sense of belonging.
Her last years were spent at Waterford Place, where she continued to share her kindness with everyone around her. Kim loved to color pictures and would make one for anyone who stopped in to say hi. These small gifts were her way of showing friendship, and they meant so much to those who received them.
She is survived by her mother, Lucretia Bassett; her sisters, Sandy Absher (Rod) and Patty Jennings; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her with love. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Henderson; her stepfather, Kenneth Bassett; her sister, Cathie Huskins; and her step-sister, Patty James.
The family gives their sincere thanks to Waterford Place for the excellent care and kindness Kim received over the years. A special thank you is also given to her roommate, Marcia, for her friendship and companionship.
She will be remembered for her calm presence, her creativity, her love of music, and the way she could sit peacefully for hours coloring, writing, or singing along to Johnny Cash. Those who knew Kimberly will always hold close the memory of her quiet joy and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Kimberly Sue Henderson will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and alway loved.
