KOKOMO- Larry Shields passed away Wednesday morning at his residence after being on Hospice Care by Guardian Angel. Larry was born to Joseph and Ada (Stroble) Shields in Kokomo. He graduated from Kokomo High School with the class of 1967.Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 in the Vietnam Era and then was honorably discharged. Larry had worked for Delco for over 30 years until he retired in August 2002. Larry was a life time member of Disabled Americans Veterans Chapter 28 and of the local 292 .He enjoyed playing Euchre watching television especially “the Three Stooges” and old westerns such as Bonanza and listening to country music.
The most important thing to Larry was his family and grandchildren which he loved dearly. Larry is survived by Children Jennifer Shields, Jonathon (Cynthia) Shields, Janelle (Shawn) Berry, Nine grandchildren, Three great-grandchildren, Siblings Phyllis Corn, Sharon Shields, Beverly Collins and Ray (Donna) Shields and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandson Gearren Shields, parents and brothers Ronnie L. Shields and David Eugene Shields.
There will be a gathering of friends and family Monday December 26, 2016 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Ellers Mortuary 3400 South Webster St. Kokomo IN. 46902. A funeral service will be at Ellers Mortuary Tuesday December 27 at 10:00am with Pastor David Osborn officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
