Linda Kay Riley, 70, went home to her Lord and Savior in Heaven on April 17, 2018 at 5:22 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana. Linda was born on June 14, 1947, in Kokomo to William L. and Ruthanne Benge Rubow. She was a lifelong resident of Kokomo, attending Kokomo schools. She married Larry L. Riley; although they divorced, they remained friends until his death in 2015. Linda’s favorite activity was attending church, and she greatly enjoyed church dinners and socials. She most regularly attended the Salvation Army Church but loved visiting other churches, including Judson Baptist. She regularly invited friends and family to accompany her. She was a longtime member of Mental Health America Social Club and attended activities at the Senior Citizen Center; she loved social gatherings and enjoyed playing cards. Linda was a natural gardener and kept her yard full of colorful blossoms. Always an exceptionally kind and loving person, after raising her children, Linda’s life was consumed with helping others. She drove friends around the state and across the country. She was a “taxi” for many friends throughout the years, enabling them to remain active and to stay in touch with loved ones. Her desire was to help anyone in need. Her ubiquitous smile and sweet nature were her trademarks. She showed her love for Jesus by being His hands and feet whenever she had the opportunity. She truly loved people. Linda is survived by one daughter, Christina Scott (James), Crawfordsville; one son, Larry Joe Riley, St. Petersburg, Florida; three grandchildren, William Walker (Candace), Michael Walker, and Layla Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Andrayah Abbott-Walker, Rylea Abbott-Walker, and Benjamin Walker; one brother William L. Rubow, Jr., (Tammy), an aunt Mary Lou Shepard; a special cousin Sharol Eaker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. Friends may call at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street, from 5-8 pm Thursday, April 19, and 9-10 am before the 10:00 am service on Friday, April 20, at the funeral home. Major David Luft will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
