

Luana Lou Vandevender, age 71, of Greentown passed away on June 14, 2015 at her residence. She was born on October 22, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of the late Milton James Greer and the late Rita (Brown) Herringa. Luana was a graduate of Kokomo High School and retired from Delco Electronics in 1996 after 23 years of service. Luana married Dariol “Steve” Stephens and Russell Vandevender and both preceded her in death. She was a member of the Christian Heritage Worship Center.
Luana is survived by her 3 sons; Dariol “Bud” (Cindy) Stephens of Kokomo, Shawn (Nellie) Stephens of Providence, RI, Brandon (Chelsey) Vandevender of Kokomo; 2 daughters; Luana (Tina) Stephens of Kokomo, Beth (Matt) Mattingly of Goldsmith; a special granddaughter and caregiver Tereasa (Herman Jr.) McKinnie of Greentown; sister, Cheryl (Keith) McMahan of Kokomo; 6 granddaughters; 7 grandsons; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 4 half-sisters; and a half-brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, and 2 half-brothers.
A funeral service to celebrate Luana’s life will be held at 1pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11am to 1pm on Friday at the funeral home.
