Martha Jane Isaac

Mrs. Martha Jane Isaac, best known as “Janie”, went to her Heavenly home at 6:37 am on Thursday, March 21, 2025. She was born in Marion, Indiana to the late Marshall Tyler Stewart, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Louise (Jones) Stewart on June 9, 1942. In 1960, she graduated from Marion High School. The following year in 1961 she graduated from the prestigious Madam C. J. Walker School of Beauty in Indianapolis, Indiana receiving a Certificate of Cosmetology “Walker School of Beauty”, in 1964. On November 22, 1964, she married the love of her life Mr. Tommy Lee Isaac from Malden, Missouri. Together, they raised three successful children and were together for 26 years until Tommy’s passing in 1990.

Janie was an amazing wife, mother, family member and genuine friend to everyone in her life. In her young adulthood, she was a talented beautician for several years. She was happily employed many years in the Kokomo School system as a teacher’s aide, bookstore assistant and kitchen staff. She found great pleasure working with children and was employed with Dream Makers Daycare until one month before her passing. Never one to sit around, she was always on the go doing her favorite things. Like helping others, listening to music, and attending sports venues of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Still, it was with her family playing Hand and Foot, Phase 10, Spades or other parlor games where she found the most happiness. Above all things, she loved the Lord Jesus most, while serving Him as a member of the Wayman Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. In so doing, she found her greatest joy and strength serving others in various capacities, including from the Clothing Pantry Coordinator and wherever needed, especially as a Class Leader.

Janie is survived by two daughters, Ms. Tyla Reynolds, Middletown, Delaware, Ms. Cassandra Davis, Davenport, Iowa; and one son, Rev. Jeffrey (Audrey) Isaac, Kokomo, Indiana, six grandchildren, Mr. David Reynolds, Middletown, Delaware, Mrs. Nicole, (Sean) Raymond, Davenport Iowa, Mr. Troy Davis, Davenport, Iowa, Mr. Demetrius Warren, Indianapolis, Indiana, Mr. Donovan Isaac, Kokomo, Indiana, Mr. Michael Heiskell, Kokomo, Indiana, Mrs. Psalms Staples, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Ms. Alexis Caraveo, Rockport, Illinois.

She is survived by 11 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, 21 nieces and nephews, and many loving extended family members and friends.

Janie was preceded in death by her loving husband Tommy L. Isaac.

Visitation for Janie will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sunset Memory Garden, 2097 W. Alto Rd. Kokomo. Her funeral service will be Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11am at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 920 N. Apperson Way, Kokomo. She will be entombed immediately following the service at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
