

Nona Mae Shearer, 84, of Kokomo, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was born on September 4, 1932 in St. Joseph, Michigan to the late Harold Davis Jr. and Helen (Mischke) Davis. Nona was married to James E. Shearer on August 25, 1956 in St. Joseph, Michigan. James preceded her in death on December 5, 2004.
Nona graduated from St. Joseph High School in Michigan and then spent some time in the school of nursing at Michigan University. She had worked in food service for the Kokomo Public School Corporation for more than 20 years, and was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church for more than 55 years.
Nona enjoyed gardening, baking, and making crafts with needlework. She loved following the Michigan Wolverines’ sports.
Nona is survived by her daughters, Kathy Frew of Kokomo, Susan (Glen) Gerhardt of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Carolyn (Scott) Bromberek of Shorewood, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashley (Sabrina) Gibson, Colton (fiancé, Katie Richard) Frew, Emily (Michael) Harding, and Alex Bromberek; great-granddaughter, Joanna Harding; and beloved friend, Joan Vyzral.
A funeral service for Nona will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 12:00 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home in Kokomo, with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. A public visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Nona’s family requests that contributions be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org), or Guardian Angel Hospice.
