

Byron graduated from Peru High School in 1960. He retired from General Motors after 30 years working as a machine operator. He also retired from Kingston Products after 21 years of employment. For 14 years, Byron worked simultaneously for both companies. He was a member of the Local UAW #292 and #1312. Byron enjoyed collecting cars, motorcycles, magazines about cars and motorcycles, as well as riding his motorcycles. He also enjoyed taking care of his lawn and being a handyman.
He is survived by his son, Stephen (Susie) Eckelbarger, Andrea Eckelbarger, Trina (David) Henger, and Kelli (Brett) Gross; mother of his children, Christine Eckelbarger; grandchildren, Patrick Eckelbarger, Kelsey Eckelbarger, Cameron Eckelbarger, Taylor Medina, Morgan Stinson, Karleigh Henger, Payton Gross, Regan Gross, and Ashtyn Gross; great-grandchildren, Skip Eckelbarger and Rory Gower; siblings, Sara Whitcomb, Della Skeen, and Phil Eckelbarger; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Brice Eckelbarger.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Byron on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ellersmortuarywebster.com for the Eckelbarger family.
