Robert “Bob” Joe Root, 81, of Kokomo passed away early Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 31, 1937 in Flora, Indiana to Argustic (Gus) and Eva (Clingenpeel) Root. Bob graduated from Kokomo High School and went on to serve in the National Guard. He married the love of his life, Genevieve Valadez on July 3, 1958, and together they raised four wonderful daughters. Bob worked for Chrysler as a job setter and retired after 30 years. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed fishing with Genevieve at Lake Erie on their boat “Gummy Bear”, restored and tinkered with cars, and ran his businesses, RJR Trophy Shop and RJR Engineering. Bob was truly a jack-of-all-trades and took care of all the home projects and repairs. Most of all Bob loved his family and spent as much time as he could with his children and grandchildren. Their home was always full of love and family. Bob is survived by his wife, Genevieve; brother, Jack (Melba) Root; daughters, Jamie (Larry) Cabello, Sherry McKee, Vickey Root and Penny Tyler; grandchildren, Jeramiah Floyd, Nicole Dixon, Carrie Dixon, Jason Weaver, Brittany Lawman and Allison Root; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Eva Root, and his sister, Shirley Root. Family will receive friends Monday, May 27th from 4 -7pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 28th at 11am also at Sunset Memory Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674, or American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
