

She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1934 and attended two years at Kokomo Junior College. On September 20, 1940, she married Hugh Fisher Nixon of Kokomo. She was employed as bookkeeper for 28 years at Kelvie Press. She was a devout Christian, played the organ and taught Sunday school. She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church, Kappa Chapter Psi Iota Xi, and Kokomo Duplicate Bridge Club. She was president of the PTA, a welcome wagon hostess and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by sister, Janet Pell; daughters, Linda S. Crawford of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Janet R. Nixon of Avon Park, Florida; son, Hugh L. Nixon and wife Lesley of Peru; grandchildren, Kent Whitfield, Lori Nicole Delaney, Lisa Brown, Gregg Whitfield, Joshua Nixon, Ross Nixon, Alison Epperson, Erin Clendenen, and Courtney Hudson; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh F. Nixon; her parents; and her brother, Kenneth A. Nelson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Macedonia Christian Church, 1532 S. 500 E., Kokomo, IN 46902.
