

Salvatore Joseph Liali, 84, Kokomo, died at 6:36 a.m. May 20, 2012 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Born in Tripoli, Libya on June 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Angelo Liali and Mariantonia (LaFerlita) Liali. On February 2, 1962 (Groundhogs Day), he married Treva Karlene Small who preceded him in death. A brother, Joseph Liali, also preceded him in death.
Salvatore was a fisherman, Journeyman and bicyclist in Sicily. Then, he came to the United Sates and got his citizenship. He then became a plumber for several years before working at Delco Electronics. He retired from there in 1991.
Salvatore became a traveler in his spare time. He criss-crossed the United Sates with his family many times over on his summer vacations. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include four children, William Orr (Kaye), Kokomo, Anthony Liali (Mercedes), Pasadena, California, Harriet O’Brien (Jesse), Edinburgh, Indiana, and Sally Liali (Roger), Whiteland, Indiana; and two sisters, Maria Liali and Carmela DeNadai. He was a proud grandparent of six grandchildren, Billy Orr, Lindsey (Orr) Bolinger, Michael Liali, Crystal (DeWitt), Jessica O’Brien, and Shelby Kinsinger; and six great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. His love for his family and friends was immeasurable.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
