

Thomas Lavon Walters, 89, of Marion, IN passed away August 28, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1935 in Logansport, Indiana the son of Robert W. and Mary L. (Snyder) Walters. Tom worked at GM for 30 years before retiring in 1986. Tom was an avid sports fan and loved the Colts, Purdue and the Pacers. Tom was the person everyone went to for everything, he was always able and willing to help. No matter what the problem was he was there with the solution. He was a true Renaissance Man. Tom was the past president of Sweetser Town Board and a retired volunteer fireman. He was also a licensed cosmetologist, licensed fire investigator, and licensed EMT. He mowed the dog park in Sweetser and volunteered at the Honeywell Center in Wabash as an usher. He absolutely loved every dog he ever had especially his dog, Tiny.
Left to cherish his memory is his children, Lesa Nelson, Cynthia Cameron, Greg Walters, Rhonda Lowery, Elizabeth Walker; grandchildren, Alexandra (Justin) Harris, Grant Nelson, Jason Lee, Jeremy Lee, Joshua Lee, Joseph Cameron, Carrie Walters, Victoria Walters, Marcel Walters, Timothy Lowery, Jennifer Lowery, Claire (Paul) Stancombe, Harrison Walker; great-grandchildren, David Stancombe and many more; cousins, Fern (Yussef Beshir) Fennell, Pam (John) Frazee, Melody (Mark) Jennings; brothers-in-law, David (Susan) Welch, Konnie Welch; niece, Christina Welch; nephew, Michael Welch; great-nephew, Aidan Welch; lifelong friend, Ruby Wilhite; fellow sports fan, Mickey Cornett; good friend, Melissa HIdalgo.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Donald; his loving wife, Norma Walters; grandson, Nicholas Walters.
