*At 17, while I was visiting home, a red haired boy drove up on a scooter with goggles and a long scarf blowing in the wind.  I thought no way but she married the boy.  *We shared the birth and lives of Of her two wonderful sons.  I got to see ballgames and school events and shared in their lives until I returned to school.  I had very little spare time between work, school, my marriage and Daddy being sick. *Vickey was a mother bear when it came to her boys.  She did everything she could to help and protect them. *She was so proud of both Aaron and Corey and all of their children.  *In our more mature years Vickey stayed with me when I broke my feet and we become friends again sharing every day life laughing and crying together.  *These last few years we FaceTimed everyday.  I learned that she had received salvation and we prayed together for our families when we talked.  I just couldn’t dissuade her from her Cokes and smoking.

*Vickey you are one of my heroes.  You are the strongest willed person I know.  A part of me is with you.  I willmiss you and will love you forever.  Boys if you ever need help or anything call on me.  I love you both and your families. 

Some of my fondest memories are of our childhood. I remember that Vickey’s birth was a surprise to Mom and Daddy.  She was a beautiful baby and Grandma Eades had crocheted the sweater set she came home in. We had a lot of company.  Nancy and I had to wait a week to hold her. *She was famous. Mom entered her in the Kokomo Tribune baby contest and she won!  Then on the first snow around four year old, a photographer for the Tribune caught her scooping snow in her wagon and printed it on the front page. *She was precocious and fearless and doted upon.  She filled in for Daddy’s little boy! *At 3 she was exploring her differences in rusty’s pool next door.  *At 4 she received her first spanking from Daddy.  She ran across Hwy 218 to Daddy on her own from the drugstore.  A semi truck had locked up its brakes barely missing her.  *She did well in school and had many friends.  Dona, Eva, and Sally became lifetime friends. *At 8 she came running home to Daddy as fast as she could screaming, “ I hit him fair and square”. She had hit an older boy in the head with a baseball bat after he had hit her first.  We were taught never to start a fight but to end it and she did. *At nine I was so mad at her I gave her a bear hug as tight as I could and she laughed at me.  She was already taller than me.  We soon laughed till we cried. *Oh she was a young entrepreneur too.  She would tell my boyfriends that if they would give her a dollar she wouldn’t tell Mom that we were kissing.  She made a lot of money off Nancy and I. *In her early teens she became a Candy Striper at St. Joe. *She loved sports especially speed skating.  She dreamed of being a Thunderbird! Daddy and her would watch them play every week on tv.  *She also loved to sing and was in choir as soon as they offered it all the way to graduation. *She worked at various waitress and cashier jobs through high school even the tomato factory with Daddy and Nancy. *At 17, while I was visiting home, a red haired boy drove up on a

* Mom and Daddy were surprised by her birth.  Grandma made the sweater set that she came home in.

* Vickey and Rusty, the next door neighbor, got caught in his swimming pool checking out their differences at three. His Mom insisted Vickey be punished, so Mom swatted Vickey on the butt in front of her and came home and laughed.  Days latter Vickey threw his tractor at him and caused stitches to his forehead.*Vickey was four she scared my parents hysterically when she ran across Highway 218 in Galveston to Daddy from the drugstore on her own.  A semi truck locked up its brakes barely missing her. She received her first spanking from my Dad.
*At nine she came running as fast as she could screaming at Daddy as he was mowing, “I hit him fair and square.  He hit me first!”  She had picked up a baseball bat and hit the older kid in the head.  Daddy taught us to not start a fight but to end it.  So she did.
*She made a lot of money from my boyfriends spying on us.  She wouldn’t tell we kissed if they paid up.
*Vickey and I got into a fight around  twelve.  I don’t remember why I was so mad at her.  I gave her a big bear hug and she laughed at me.  Soon we laughed till we cried. She was taller than me.
*Vickey did well in school.  She didn’t apply herself because her friends and activities had her priorities.  She had many friends and Dona, Eva, and Sally became lifetime friends.
*She became a Candy Striper and a CNA later in life. 
*She loved speed skating.  She dreamed of being a Thunderbird. Daddy and Vickey watch them on tv.  She loved singing and was in choirs.  
There are so many precious memories.  I love you Sis forever.   








I worked with Vickey many years ago at the El Compadre restaurant.
I have many fond memories of working and having lots of fun times with her!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time!
