Wanda Abney-Wood

Wanda (McKinney/Pentland) Abney-Wood, age 87, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was born September 8, 1935 in Kokomo to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Fipps) McKinney. She married Robert Pentland in 1954 and that union produced five beautiful children. She then married George Abney on Feb. 3, 1977, who passed May 4, 1981. She then married James "Waldo" Wood in 1997, and he precedes her in death.

Wanda retired from Delco Electronics in 1995 after over 30 years of employment. She was a member of the UAW #292. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Wanda loved her Lord, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and church functions. Wanda was extremely family-oriented and loved spending time with all her family.

She is survived by her children, Linda Dockerty, Robert "Ted" (Kathy) Pentland, Mark (Jeanene) Pentland, and son-in-law, Donald Lombard; grandchildren, Amy Dockerty, Angie Pentland, Dustina Bowser, Jeremy (Becky) Pentland, Jerry (Barbie) Biehle Jr., Sabrina Bowser, Christopher (Charla Ellis) Pentland, Andrea (Megan) Dockerty, Todd Pentland, Holly Pentland, Nicholas (Shawna) Bowser; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; brothers, Michael (Margaret) McKinney and Larry McKinney; and hundreds of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Frank Pentland; daughter, Paula Lombard; brothers, Ralph McKinney Jr., and William (Marilyn) McKinney; sister, Norma (Nolan) Alley; and great-grandchild, Jacob Gallegos.

There will be a time of visitation and remembrance for Wanda on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1967 West Boulevard, Kokomo. Pastor Steven Archer will be officiating. Burial will follow to Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
