Wayne Alexander Thomas

Wayne Alexander Thomas, age 88, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Primrose Retirement Community of Kokomo. He was born on September 18, 1934 to the late Floyd and Helen (Wood) Thomas in Kokomo. He married Louise Jean (Leach) Thomas on July 21, 1956.

Wayne graduated from Ball State University where he earned a degree in business. After college he entered into the United States Army and received a Marksman (Rifle) commendation. After serving his country, he began his career at Delco Radio in data processing and retired from Delco Electronics and EDS.

Wayne enjoyed golf, racquetball, skiing, white water rafting, bowling, and running. He was a sports enthusiast cheering on the Colts, IU, and Notre Dame. He was a referee for both football and basketball and also did the stats for Haworth High School basketball. Wayne enjoyed traveling with both his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his children, Trina (Gary Dearth) Blackburn, Tracie (Terry) Bergin, Troy (Paula) Thomas; grandchildren, Michael Hammer, Krystal Hanson, Terrence (Ashley) Bergin, James (Tonya) Thomas, Trent Bergin, and Chris (Shylow) Thomas; and ten great-grandchildren.

Wayne is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise; daughter, Tricia Hammer; grandson, Stephen Hammer; companion, Dorothy Martin; his parents; a sister; and a brother.

There will be a time of visitation for Wayne on Saturday, January 21 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 5:00 P.M. officiated by Pastor Greg Reed. Full military rites will be performed by the United States Army and the VFW Post 1152 Military Rites Team. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wayne to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
