Nécrologie de Wendy Rose Mates
Wendy Rose Mates, age 48, passed away on Thursday, October 10th at her daughter, Kirstie’s home in Kokomo, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1971 to Daniel Dumoulin Sr. and Joan (Cardwell) Dumoulin. Wendy graduated from Western High School with the class of 1990. On February 9, 1991, she was married to Mark Mates at St. Pat’s Church in Kokomo. They later divorced, but together they continued to raise their three daughters. Wendy had worked several different jobs, most recently spending five years at the Chrysler plant in Kokomo, which became her all-time favorite. If Wendy taught her children anything, it was the value in working hard. Wendy enjoyed attending Fuel Church in Kokomo. Her favorite hobbies included crafting, making and decorating cakes, sewing, and walking through Meijer, Menards, Rural King, and Treasure Mart. She also enjoyed taking pictures of her family, and would spend hours talking on her phone, especially with her best friend, Kellie. More than anything, Wendy enjoyed the time that was spent with her children and grandchildren. Wendy is survived by her parents, Daniel Dumoulin Sr. and Joan Dumoulin; children, Kirstie Mates (Brandon Hainlen), Karlie (Nicholas) Atkinson, McKenzie (Jeremey) Howey, Summerlynn Mates, Michael Groves II, and London Collins; grandparents, John and Janet Cardwell and Carrie Zinn; siblings, Danny Dumoulin, Kasey (Kenny) Broniak, and Kiley Dumoulin (Andrew Lefforge); grandchildren, Jaxon Howey, Madalynn Howey, Riley Atkinson, Finley Atkinson, and Lilly Howey; lifelong friends, Kellie Ooley and Mindy Spence; and former companion, Mike Groves, who continues to help raise her children. There will be a public visitation for Wendy at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15th from 5-8 pm, and another visitation on Wednesday, October 16th from 10-11 am, followed immediately by a funeral service. Memorial contributions in Wendy’s name may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
