William Neal Goad passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the age of 65. Born July 1, 1951 in Franklin, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Lewis and Lillie Frances (Cassada) Goad. Neal graduated from Northwestern High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Indiana University.
He was a humble, thoughtful man who was quiet yet the most creative and intelligent in all aspects of life. From his drawings and short stories, his favorite movies, the cardboard dollhouse he designed for his nieces to the conversations about the latest video games and sports with his nephews, he loved his family and his family loved him. He lovingly took care of his parents during both of their illnesses, always putting others before himself.
For the last 34 years, Neal worked for Village Pantry. His interests were shared with all he loved. Neal was an Indiana Hoosiers fan, especially enjoying their basketball championships in 1976, 1981 and 1987. He also liked tennis and would frequent the Clay Championships and RCA Championships each year when they were held in Indianapolis. He was always ready to share his love of music with his family, whether it was about his record album collection from the 60’s and 70’s or the newest artists. Neal was the first to have the latest computer or video gaming systems, captured several family memories with his photography skills and always loved a good movie.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles (Pamela) Goad of Gainesville, Florida and Larry (Diane) Goad of Kokomo; nieces and nephews include Shannon Goad, Casey (Brandon) Karas, Christina (Jeremy) Anderson, Christopher (Jennifer) Goad, Jason (Melissa) Goad, Kelly Goad, Robert Goad, Katharine Goad, Melissa (Mark) Mitchell and Carrie Rhoades; several great nieces and nephews; two great-great nieces and many cousins who all loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Dewey L. Goad in 1994.
To respect his wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, Kokomo, IN.
