

Ernest M. Sueoka, of Koloa, passed away on Sept. 11, 2025, at the age of 94. Born in Koloa on Feb. 10, 1931, he graduated from Kauai High School. He served in the U.S. Army, assigned to England during the Korean War, and later moved to Los Angeles, where he earned his certification as a retail meat cutter. He returned to Kauai to help his family manage Sueoka Store, adding the Snack Shop, self-service to the meat department, and several major renovations to better serve the community of Koloa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mankichi and Yoshi Sueoka, brothers Akiharu, George, Richard Sueoka, sisters Toshiko Mizuha, Edith Hashiguchi, Lily Sueoka, Julia Shigezawa and grandson Tyson Sueoka Kinney.
He is survived by his wife Jan, son Steve, daughters Sandra, Karen, Cindy, Kim, Stacey, sister Eunice, grandchildren Candice (Eric) Regensberg, Landon (Mari) Samiano, Courtney Samiano, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary on Oct. 11, 2025, 9 a.m. visitation, 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire and no monetary gifts or flowers.
