She was born in 1934 in Phoenix Arizona to George Newbury of Brainer, Kansas and Rena Mary Miller of Garwin, Iowa. Carolyn enjoyed a 30-year career as a school secretary in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, taught Sunday school and involved herself in various community activities as she raised her children with her beloved husband of 55 years, Louis Teincuff in La Mesa, California.
Having a passion for nature, animals and children, Carolyn brought her camera everywhere she went, taking artistic pictures, many of which she used to create her own beautiful artwork. She regularly showed her art in the La Mesa Foothills Art Association Gallery, San Diego County Fair and the Pastel Society of San Diego, winning honorary awards from each organization. Other hobbies of hers included gardening, creating wedding cakes, bowling and following her favorite team, the San Diego Padres.
Carolyn was preceded in death by the love of her life, Louis Teincuff and is survived by her two sons, David Teincuff (Robin) and Steven Teincuff (Kathryn); her three grandchildren, Benjamin Teincuff, Joshua Teincuff and Nicole Teincuff (Kyle Doyle); her great-granddaughter, Ellis Doyle, her sister, Shirley Moffitt, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will never forget the love and joy she brought to their lives.
Carolyn will be fondly remembered as a kind, compassionate, thoughtful person who always put others first and made everyone around her feel loved and appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 am at Erickson-Anderson Mortuary, 8390 Allison Avenue, La Mesa, CA 91942.
In lieu of flowers and to recognize Carolyn’s lifelong love and appreciation for children and art, the family requests donations to be made in her memory to ArtReach San Diego. (artreachsandiego.org – on the donation page, click on “Dedicate this donation".)
