

Chuck was born on November 3, 1948 in San Diego to Arley McGhee and Mary McGhee. A life long resident of La Mesa, he attended Saint Martins Academy, was active in youth sports and graduated from Helix High School in 1966. Upon graduation Chuck enlisted in the US Navy serving on the USS Hornet during the Apollo Eleven Recovery Operation. After his 3 year service in the navy he attended San Diego State University graduating June 3, 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Chuck worked for Kresge as a management trainee, followed by a regional job with Dr. Pepper in the fountain division and retired after a number of years working for Frito Lay. In retirement Chuck kept busy with a part time job for Hampton Hotels as a shuttle driver often commenting on how much he enjoyed meeting a variety of people and listening to their stories.
Chuck was a member of our Lady of Grace Parish in El Cajon and a member of the Rancho Bernardo Inn Men’s Golf Club. He loved sports, playing golf, studying history, old movies and reminiscing with family and friends.
Chuck was survived by his brother Michael McGhee and his sister Charlotte Haegen and several cousins, nephews and a niece.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 16th, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2766 Navajo Rd., El Cajon, CA 92020 at 11:00 am.
