

Mt. Helix Diana G. Medina, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away on Oct 16, 2017 surrounded by family. Diana was a San Diego native, growing up in the Spring Valley area. A graduate of Mt. Miguel High School she went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Sociology from San Diego State University, while raising her three sons. After teaching sociology at National University, she started a business with her husband Jim, which they ran together for over 25yrs. She was a dynamic person with many interests including writing crime stories in her “Sisters in Crime” writing club, camping, and dancing with her family and friends. Most recently, her life revolved around her 7 grandchildren, ensuring they had no doubt how much they were loved and how proud she was of all of them. She was an enormous part of their lives and her quick wit was ever present. She is survived by her husband of 53yrs, Jim, three sons: Jimmy, Matt, and Mark Medina, and her beloved grandchildren: Maddison, Macey, Maya, Kyle, Owen, Haley and Ashley Medina. Her sister, Linda DiMaria, as well as countless nieces, nephew, cousins and extended family have been a pillar of strength in this hard time. Services will be held at Foothills United Methodist Church in La Mesa on November 11, 2017 at 11:00am.
