Yolanda B. Magaña, 82, born in Okaloosa County, Florida but native to San Diego, left to be with her heavenly father on January 26, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was the heart and soul of those who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.
Born on September 11, 1942, she made and cherished her San Diego home until her passing. Yolanda was the daughter of Emanuel and Consuelo Musillo and sister to two brothers: Manual and Anthony. A dedicated member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lemon Grove, CA, her faith guided her throughout her life.
A proud advocate of the World-Famous San Diego Zoo, Yolanda’s role as an Education Reservationist was more than a job—it was a passion. She took joy in connecting visitors from around the world with the Zoo’s educational programs, inspiring young minds and fostering a love for wildlife until her retirement in 2020.
During breaks, she found peace strolling through the Zoo’s lush grounds, especially drawn to hummingbirds, whose delicate beauty reflected her gentle spirit. Her life was a blend of love, education, and appreciation for nature, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her warmth and wisdom will forever be cherished.
Yolanda’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Magaña, and her devoted children: Carlos Silva, Yvonne Pacheco, Yvette Magaña, and Christine Flores. Each of them carries forward her kindness, strength, and love. Her impact extends through her grandchildren—Alexia, Marisa, Derek (honorary grandchild), Ariana, Serena, Andrew, Jessika, Vincent "Vinny," Hannah, Dominic, Sebastian, and Myiah—who brought her endless joy and whom she adored wholeheartedly.
Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren—Ariabella, Alaia, Aleena, Nico, Elijah, Gilbert Leo, and Luca—who were the light of her life. Yolanda’s nurturing presence, playful spirit, and boundless love created an unbreakable bond across generations.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, Yolanda’s love and wisdom will forever be woven into the fabric of her family. She leaves behind a life beautifully lived and a love that will never fade.
