Althea Alice Adams

She was born March 22, 1938, in LaGrange, GA to the late Howard A. McKeen and Willie Mallory McKeen.

Althea earned her bachelor’s degree at West Georgia College; she earned her master’s and educational specialist degrees from Troy State University.

Althea spent 42 years of her life as an educator and retired from the Muscogee County School District in May 2004. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, crafting, and shopping.

She is survived by her daughters, Rena Hoogacker, Cindy Jarriel (Jerry) and Alesia Kay Mizell (Michael); grandchildren, Chris Jarriel (Caitlin), Megan Evans (Trevor), Jay Hoogacker Jr., (Kristine), Mallory Breeden (Josh) and Tegen Mizell; great grand-children, Hayley Tippens, Jay Hoogacker III, Ethan Breeden, Liam Hoogacker, Case Evans, Hudson Jarriel, Madelyn Evans, Judd Jarriel; brother, Paul McKeen, Sr. (Shirley) and many other relatives and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2025, in the Chaple of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 AM. The committal will take place following the service at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.
